After a little tour de Vancouver, we drove up to Whistler and made it. Note the picture of words that have numbers in them above. Let the vacation begin! Today's blog is by Kate. I have made it to Canadia to check up on Morgs and Gussie. I want to assure everyone that Morgan is still alive, the Jeep is still going, and Gus, though a little shabbier (Morgan says I can't say fatter so I'll go with shapely). As I came out of customs, I expected to see a smiling Morgan but alas...no. So I walked outside only to see a dirty Jeep with a tulle on top drive by, I tried to check for Massachusetts plates but it was so dirty I couldn't tell. So I ran with a brief case across my chest, a sailing bag over one shoulder, and a ski bag over the other shouting after this dirty Jeep. Then the crossing guard said to me "don't worry, she'll be around again. Shes been looping about 15 times." Sure enough, she came back around. The video of Gussie and I reuniting is below. Notice the stream...pure joy.

I'm in Golden tonight, planning to ski Kicking Horse tomorrow. Tonight marks the first time I have had to seriously sneak the dog into a hotel, since there were few options for tonight if i wanted to stay here. I put a blanket over her and carried her up to the third floor room. I think she has gained some serious weight since the start of this trip, but she was more coopertive than I thought she would be. She reminded me of ET under her blanket while I carried her like a little calf.
Everything up here has been awesome so far with the exception of today, since I hit an all time trip low and was so ill I could only manage to ski 2 runs at Lake Louise, and I didnt arrive until 1:30.....Certainly not related to alcohol.....I may or may not have nearly lost it on the side of a blue run. Thats when I decided that 2 runs=a day. Although I can say I did make some new canadian friends, who were super fun to hang with and really nice. Gussie's long lost canadian sister joined in the festiviies as well. (dog pictured). Banff was a cool town, and skiing Sunshine was fun. More to come on that soon. THE NEW PICTURES ARE UP HERE! Another shameful "trip first", I got my first speeding ticket of the trip today. The cop pulled me over by standing in the middle of the road and waving me over. it sucked. I tried to say I didnt understand what the difference beteen kilometers and MPH was, and he didnt buy it. though he said was lucky because If he wrote me the ticket for the speed I was ACTUALLY doing (which i didnt think was thta much) then they would have had the right to impound my car for 7 days. sweet life. |
